There’s one other restraining order to round out our series, but the name is a mouthful. It’s the private post-secondary school-violence restraining order.
This order addresses threats of violence at a private college or university or other school that provides vocational, professional, or post-secondary education.
It can help protect students who the school believes or agrees are being stalked, abused, or threatened. Generally, it works the same way as other types of restraining orders, but only the school can request one, not the students themselves. In this way, it resembles the workplace-violence orders from last week. Students who want to file for themselves can still ask for a domestic-violence or civil-harassment order, depending on their relationship (if any) to the other person.
Here’s more information from the California courts.
